This massive Anaconda did not care about a couple of divers.
One of the more feared snakes of the world is the massive Anaconda, a giant species of constrictor native to South America. Generally known as one of the largest species of snake on Earth, these massive serpents get something of a bad reputation, thanks mostly to terrible 90s horror movies starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Jon Voight, but I digress.
Because the movies made these snakes a lot more threatening than they really are. Make no mistake, large ones could kill a human, but most do not seem to see us as natural prey items.
For further proof of that, look no further than this video out of Brazil where some divers get up close and personal with an exceptionally large specimen underwater. The big snake seems to barely acknowledge the people are there.
According to the video's description, this snake was 23 feet long. We are not sure how accurate that estimate is, but there is no denying that this was a truly massive serpent and not the type one sees regularly, even in a place as wild as Brazil. There are a few different varieties of anaconda out there. The green and yellow ones are the most common.
The snake in this video appears to be a green anaconda, which is the largest of the bunch. As large as these serpents get, they are non-venomous creatures. They kill their prey by means of suffocation in their strong coils. Despite what you may read on the Internet, documented cases of this snake eating humans seem few and far between. Most of what is out there seems to be mostly the stuff of Internet legend.
It even shows in this video with how the snake hardly reacts to the humans invading its watery domain. This creature may have a reputation as a killer, but it seems like most snakes, it simply wants to be left alone.
