Ever thought, "I want to see a how few different muzzle brakes work on an AR and actually compare them side by side?" Here's a great video that does just that.
First, you see the recoil without any kind of muzzle device at all. Unsurprisingly, "it recoiled a lot." Interestingly, it seems that an AR-15 recoils less on the last round in the mag, which even those who shoot ARs regularly might not have realized.
Quite scientifically, Wide Open Spaces video contributor NicTaylor00 notes the recoil observed with each of the compensators, finding that they are relatively comparable. However, "anything's better than nothing at all," so if you want to control your recoil for better accuracy, NicTaylor00 recommends: "put something on your gun."
The advice isn't too surprising in the end, but it is nice to see some controlled testing to clearly identify the effects of various muzzle brakes.
