"So, it all started when a youngster decided to embark on an adventure, leaving home in search of a new life. Let's be honest, we've all been there at some point in our youth—those spur-of-the-moment decisions that usually end up being short-lived. This adventure was no different. Our deputy found the youngster quickly, but there was an unexpected twist. Along for the ride, tucked away in the kid's backpack, was none other than a rooster! ?Yep, you read that right. Ole Foghorn here was a bit shaken up but unharmed."

They continued, "Now, here's the kicker—the rooster did not belong to the kid, and we're still scratching our heads as to how exactly he ended up with it. So, we have a bit of a mystery on our hands and, well, ? ???????."

Police don't know exactly how the child got their hands on the bird. They said, Is anyone out there missing a rooster? If you are, or know someone who might be, please holler at us. Ole Foghorn is cooped up in the Witness Protection Program over at the Patterson Animal Control, but we figure he would prefer to be back home where he belongs!"

After posting the picture, the post went viral on a small scale with people sharing their own thoughts on the situation. One believe it was actually a female chicken and not a rooster.

"Thing is it's not a rooster, it's a hen," said one Facebook user, with others concurring.

"Somebody call CPS — chicken protection service," said another.

"And how do we know the rooster and the kid were not in cahoots to leave for a better life," joked another Facebook user. According to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, authorities are not sure if anyone stepped forward about the bird at this time. Fortunately, authorities located the child, but mysteries certainly remain.
