It is that time! Warmer weather brings on the search for lunkers under logs, and the Bassmaster Classic!
We know you are dying to know, so guess what? We'll tell you. The Bassmaster Classic is coming back to Lake Hartwell in Greenville, South Carolina and will take place from March 16-18 of 2018.
Three years after the local favorite Casey Ashley took the crown in 2015 after opening the ceremony up with the national anthem, the biggest tournament in the fishing spectrum will be returning to the Palmetto State.
With a March date set, hopefully the fishing weather will be a tad bit warmer than the last time the tournament was in South Carolina. February of 2015 had record setting frigid temps in the single digits during the tournament, but it didn't slow those fish fanatic fans and the competitors down!
"Bringing the Bassmaster Classic back to the Upcountry of South Carolina was an east decision," Bruce Akin, CEO of B.A.S.S., proclaims, "Despite record-cold temperatures when we were there in February of 2015, fishing turned out in force. Our attendance of 103,000 those three days marked a 40 percent increase over the 2008 Classic which was one of our biggest turnouts ever."
Luckily, a month farther along in the year, warmer temperatures are expected. Warmer weather and a 100% chance of big bass is in the forecast.
South Carolina, we hope you are ready. We'll see you in Greenville, you fishing fools.
