Every year when all those Christmas decorations go up, you can't help it if the local wildlife becomes curious. Deer or elk can end up with lights in their antlers, and every now and then some decor gets relocated. But one bear in Zephyr Cove near Lake Tahoe became rather opinionated about a blow-up Rudolph moving into the neighborhood.
The homeowner, Dave Lester, came out in the morning to his Rudolph completely thrashed beyond repair. While the deer's demise was a bit of a head scratcher, the homeowner's Ring camera captured footage of the tragedy. The video shows a bear approaching and grabbing the deer, but he seems rather confused.
Many commenters speculated that the bear realized it wasn't a real deer and was less than thrilled. One wrote,"Bear probably thought 'easy supper' then realized it was fake." After that, the bear makes quick work of the blow-up Rudolph until it's toast, drawing a lot of sympathy from Rudolph fans. One commenter wrote, "I know all of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names, but this is ridiculous. He didn't deserve that. That bear is definitely going on the naughty list." Another agreed writing, "Oh no... Not Rudolph! he's already been through so much hardship. RIP." Others were worried about who would be guiding the sleigh on Christmas Eve for Santa. Not to mention, if there's no Rudolph, would anyone even get Christmas presents?
A few viewers pointed out a key detail. This reindeer does not have a red nose, so maybe it was Donner or Blitzen or Comet? No one want's the most famous reindeer of all to be taken out by a rogue bear that as one viewer put it, "certainly isn't in the Christmas spirit." Another pointed out that the "scary part is that there was still a large hungry bear wandering around." However, Zephyr Cove is used to bear sightings, and it's surprising that decoration attacks don't happen more often!
