Believe it or not, some of the top 20 best-selling vehicles of 2017 were sedans. But not very many.
We're not spoiling anything by telling you right up front that the top two were the Chevy Silverado at No. 2 and the Ford F-Series, by a wide margin, at No. 1. Chevy sold about 585,000 full-size pickups to Ford's 897,000.
Mixed in with the other 18 vehicles were a bunch of crossover SUVs (Nissan Rogue, Toyota Rav4 and Honda CR-V) as well as the aforementioned sedans.
The bestselling four-door was, as you might have already guessed, the Toyota Camry with 387,000 models out the door.
Close behind the Toyota, though, is the Honda Civic with 377,000 sold. At No. 9, Toyota claims another spot with the Corolla, and Honda's Accord slots in at No. 10.
In all, sedans account for only eight spots out of 20, leaving the other 18 to the trucks and SUVs of the world.
Interesting fact: If GM were to combine Chevy Silverado sales with GMC Sierra sales (the two are virtually identical), the General would still be in second place behind Ford's F-Series by almost 93,000 units.
