Big Illinois Buck Dies Rare and Strange Death Due to Weather

This Illinois buck was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

One of the beauties of shed hunting or scouting is not knowing what each trip will present. You can find some interesting things out in the woods, but you won't find this very often, if ever.

Friends of The Lindsey Way sent them these photos of a buck they knew well in Pike County. Finding a dead deer is nothing out of the ordinary. They can die if they're wounded, or fall victim to predation, disease, starvation and so on.

But what was so special about this buck was that it died from a fallen tree. Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time!

Pike County has become a particularly well-known hunting destination over the years as a result of producing high-quality whitetails. However, this particular buck is one hunters will wish they were still able to hunt. Nature has a unique way of balancing things out. This unfortunately, being one of them.

It's always a heartbreaker when you walk up on a dead buck you'd been targeting. And, dying from a fallen tree is sad way to go, but hopefully the animal didn't suffer. These photos are a good reminder to be mindful and cautious in the woods in high winds. Falling trees aren't just dangerous to animals, but humans too.

In any case, mark that up as one of the strangest finds in the whitetail woods, though, and at least they got some closure on his story.
