Brian Hartman of Alexandria Bay may have just caught the new state record walleye.
In January, 2009 Thomas Reed was granted the record of biggest walleye caught in New York State with a 16-pound, 9-ounce brute caught in Mystic Lake.
Now, on May 5, 2018, Brian Hartman may have just thrashed that record with a walleye caught in the St. Lawrence River that tipped the scales at 18.2 pounds!
The fish was weighed on a certified scale at the venerable Thousand Island Bait Store and came in at 32 inches long with a gut-busting 21 inch girth!
As the current state record stands at 16 pounds, the Hartman fish could then shatter the record by almost two pounds.
Big congratulations to Brian, and stay tuned for more information on this great catch!
