This dog retreat is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. Dogs must be kept on a leash when outside your vehicle and be properly cleaned up after. Who forgets poop bags! I swear I have them in every pocket.
Check out all these areas they have for dogs! 4 Paws Kingdom Campground & Dog Retreat is like a dog spa or retreat!
- Includes NINE fenced-in dog parks and playgrounds (with one being reserved just for the little guys under 20 pounds)
- A large dog pond, which is shallow enough to allow those with stubby legs to enjoy it too
- 16 acres of trails
- A beautiful creek
- An agility dog park
The camping season opens in April and closes towards the end of November.
Dogster reported that the owners are so proud of this retreat! The Bartoscheks take great pride in the campground they created for dog lovers and their pets, and the success of this one-and-only dog-dedicated campground proves that people want to be able to enjoy the camping experience with their dog.
"Over the years, we have seen people and dogs cultivate lasting friendships, and we have become a meeting point for dog lovers from around the country," he says. "It makes us proud to be an integral part in the lives of so many people."
Note that the campgrounds cater to adults only. Rates include up to 4 dogs, each extra is $4/night. The park reserves the right to limit the number of dogs per campsite/rental unit. For more information on pet restrictions, please call (828) 287-7324.
Have fun!
How about agility with your dogs while camping? Yes, sign us up!
Hiking with our dogs is one of our favorite activities on long weekends. Here are some tips:
- Follow the leash laws wherever you go
- Pick up after your dogs!
- Stick to the trail, we have SO many lost dogs around here on short trails
The grooming station alone is amazing! Campers can enjoy hikes yet their best friend can enjoy so much more! Our dogs would love the agility park, hiking trails, swimming pond, lake, and the small dog park since they're on the smallish side. If we lived closer we would absolutely have events there and potluck lunches with friends. I have to admit that I really like the idea that's open to adults since children and dogs don't always mix well.
If any readers have been to Four Paws Kingdom we'd love to hear from you!
This original post was published on August 30, 2019. The post was updated on September 3, 2019, to reflect editorial corrections around details surrounding the campgrounds. Four Paws Kingdom is no longer owned by the Bartocheks. Also, the campground has 8 different dog parks as we reported 9 originally. The post also said that there are 16 acres of trails as a campground feature and that is incorrect.
How do you make sure you are polite on the trail and do you always pick up poop? Tell us in the comments below.
