One hunt results in two giant caribou on the ground.
When it comes to North American big game animals, the caribou doesn't get as much love as it probably should. These magnificent animals provide an incredible spot and stalk hunting challenge in the far northern, open tundra areas where they are found.
As if that wasn't enough, they are great eating and sport some of the most magnificent antlers found in the deer family. Don't take our word for it, just watch how exciting it is in this hunt from YouTubers Stuck N The Rut.
These is an Alaskan caribou hunt with Adam and Tana. After they spot two great shooter bulls at 550 yards, they decide to go for the double, shooting at the same time and dropping two of the nicest caribou you'll ever see.
A video like this reminds us why the caribou is on our bucket list of animals we want to hunt someday. Just seeing the massive herds of these beautiful animals walking across the open spaces is a sight to behold. This is one of those hunts where the experience alone makes the hunting trip worth it. Getting a big bull is just the icing on the cake.
It may seem like 550 yards is an extreme distance, but this is not unheard of in caribou hunting circles. Getting close to these animals in a place where there is next to no cover is hard to do, and sometimes the only option is a rifle at long range. This why many hunters pack both a bow and a rifle for a caribou hunt. If they can't close the gap, the rifle is the backup plan.
Adam and Tana harvested two magnificent bulls on this hunt that any hunter would be happy with. Tana's was simply massive in size while Adam's had some of the coolest character we've ever seen on caribou antlers. Truly trophies to be proud of, congrats to both lucky hunters!
