Chevrolet swept the NASCAR season opener with wins in the Monster Energy, Xfinity and Camping World Series.
The 2018 NASCAR season kicked off with plenty of excitement last weekend, and Team Chevrolet was tough to beat. The new rules and car designs ensure that races will be closer than ever, but the Chevrolet cars and trucks looked dominant heading into Atlanta's race weekend.
Here's how Chevrolet did:
Monster Energy Cup Series
The all-new Camaro ZL1 racecar showed up strong in its first race with Alex Bowman taking the Daytona 500 pole and Austin Dillon bringing the iconic No. 3 back to victory lane.
Dillon lead only one lap, but it was the only one that mattered. His last-lap pressure on then-leader Aric Almirola resulted in a crash, but gave his team a win in a fashion very similar to Dale Earnhardt. This irony is not lost on the fact that Dillon drove the No. 3 back to Daytona 500 win exactly 20 years after The Intimidator did so for his first and only time in 1998. Five Chevys finished in the Top 10.
Xfinity Series
As a sign of how good this year's racing is going to be, the Xfinity Series race required a photo finish with a 0.000 second margin of victory - or about the length of the front splitter! Tyler Reddick and his Camaro SS came out on top in the jaw-dropping finish. Six Chevys finished in the Top 10.
Camping World Truck Series
Before the Camaros showed their dominance in the car races, the Chevrolet Silverado had the bowtie parked in victory lane. Johnny Sauter, the 2016 series champion, started his 2018 campaign off as best as can be expected with race win and bonus points for a Stage 2 win, also. Six Chevys finished in the Top 10.
