The Costa Rica fly fishing scene is starting to get big again!
Costa Rica fly fishing has always come down to fishing for billfish in the Pacific and fishing for tarpon in the Caribbean. However, anglers are now starting to go back into the jungle to focus on the amazing freshwater fisheries within the country. I am very proud to say that I am one of those anglers!

This particular river system has plenty of machaca, which we targeted as the main species. A relative of the piranha, these fish are great fighters once you hook up with one. In addition to the machaca, certain conditions can bring tarpon and snook into the river as well. In these wild places, you never know what to expect.
