Offshore kayak fishing for mahi mahi in Costa Rica is a trip you will surely never forget!
Certain times of the year, Costa Rica provides anglers with the unique experience of offshore kayak fishing for mahi mahi. Throughout most of the year mahi mahi are found in deep water and typically a few miles from the shore. However, during certain seasons they come in very close and can easily be caught via kayak almost right off the beaches.

As you can see, these fish put up quite the fight and love to chase down fast moving topwater plugs. Fly fishing for these fish is also an option, but can be quite difficult in scenarios where schooling fish are not found.
Overall, landing one of these big dorado via kayak in Costa Rica was an experience of a lifetime.
