It takes a lot of air to produce 707 horsepower from a supercharged V-8, and the new SRT Hellcat cars can now breathe easier!
Dodge has released a pair of teasers for the SRT Hellcat versions of the Challenger and Charger that show minor design tweaks in the name of improved air flow.
We're going to have to wait until summer for more info on both SRT Hellcat models, but can the extra air bring extra power? With Dodge confirming that the 840-horsepower Demon was a one-year-only offering, this could open the door for more output to make its way under the hood of the ultimate Chargers and Challengers for the 2019 model year.
2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
Last year, Dodge added the Demon's widebody treatment to the high-powered Challenger Hellcat, and the 2019 will bring more changes. For now, the only change we really know about is a new dual intake hood that pays homage to Mopars of the '60s and '70s. The fully functional scoops are more extreme than a stock Challenger and more menacing than the current (2015-2018) Hellcat, and it gives the car a traditional Mopar appearance than today's Hellcat, which consisted of a large central air intake with smaller vents on each side.
2019 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat
While it takes a whole new hood to improve the styling and air flow of the 2019 Challenger Hellcat, it would appear that the only major visual change planned for the 2019 Charger Hellcat is a new front end. The sole teaser image confirms a reshaped grille with an obvious air intake hole, but it also looks like the headlights have been tweaked as well. Our guess here might be some sort of ram air intake similar to the Challenger Hellcat's "Air Catcher," which allows air to flow directly through the driver-side parking lamp.
