The Maine Warden Service reported that the fox that relentlessly attacked a worker from Topsham, Maine, was likely rabid at the time. The jaw-dropping incident was captured on security cameras.
Maine news station WGME reported that Wiscasset, Maine resident Mark Sleeper was attacked and bitten on the arm. In a brief but vicious hand-to-tooth combat, Sleeper fought off the determined fox and threw it across the parking lot before running away.
The fox—reportedly a sickly gray fox already stuck with porcupine quills—can be seen on the video getting up and chasing Sleeper, who escapes off-camera.

The fox reportedly returned to the area, where it was run over and killed by a worker. The fox's remains are being tested for rabies.
Sleeper is undergoing treatment for rabies as a precaution.
