Easy and cheap tip to improve deer habitat.
Hunting season never ends; with all the scouting, habitat improvements, and game species you will have something to do year round. With all of those opportunities things can a little get expensive. So, if you're like me, you are always looking for cheap ways to improve your property for deer. Well, here is a cheap and easy idea for your hunting property.
First I'm definitely buying some permethrin cream. Anything to keep ticks away I am willing to try.
This is the first I have heard of feather cutting. It makes sense to head to a food plot and take select trees and hinge them down. I have done some selective hinge cutting on my property but not on the edges of my food plots. I use them to provide a "safe" path for the deer to travel through and into my food plots.
Take note as to what trees you are cutting down. As mentioned in the video sassafras makes for excellent browse so if you can cut those. If you are willing to sacrifice a few maple or oak trees those are also great for deer.
