German Shepherds are the second most popular dogs in America right behind Labrador Retrievers. GSDs (German Shepherd Dogs) are some of the most recognizable dogs with their pointy ears, alert and intelligent expressions, and tan and black coats.

The breed skyrocketed into popularity with Rin Tin Tin, a German Shepherd that was rescued from the World War 1 battlefield from soldier Lee Duncan. Rin Tin Tin went on to star in 27 Hollywood movies in the 1920s.

German Shepherds are extremely loyal dogs, especially to their masters. This loyalty has earned them the nickname "one-man breed." They make great police dogs, service dogs, and household dogs.

As with all large dogs, GSDs need adequate training and sufficient exercise to maintain their health.
