A father and son had an amazing memory on this muzzleloader hunt.
Many outsiders to hunting simply cannot understand what it is we love so much about the tradition. Most seem to think it's all about harvesting an animal, which is a major goal, but it's not the only part of the equation. Filling the freezer full of organic, free-ranging meat is great too, but it's not the only reason we're hooked on the outdoors.
For many of us, the biggest thing that keeps us returning to the woods again and again is the memories. Especially those made with family and friends. A successful hunt with loved ones is always more memorable than one on your own.
If you don't believe us, just watch this video from YouTube channel HUNT IT. Cody Butler is hunting with his dad Scott Butler using grandfather's muzzleloader when a beautiful 8-pointer steps out and offers a shot. It doesn't get much better than this in the deer woods.
It does not get much better than that. A beautiful, clean 8-point that has it all. And to top it off, harvesting it with a muzzleloader with that much family significance just adds to the experience. It's clear this hunt meant a lot to Scott since he says he does not often get to spend a ton of time in the woods with Cody these days. It's great they captured this entire hunt on video so they can both relive it for many years to come.
And honestly, unless you have had a moment like this in the deer woods, it can be difficult to explain to a non-hunter the rush of emotions that come in a moment like this one. It's just something one must experience themselves to understand.
Congratulations to Scott on an excellent deer, and for the reminder to stop and just enjoy the hunt and the time spent with loved ones each hunting season.
