How would you handle a pack of coyotes howling this close to you?
When most people hear coyotes howling, they're a safe ways off. I've been out deer or turkey hunting when I've had them sound off in fairly close proximity to my blind or stand. When they get going, it can be an unnerving experience. One thing that always comforts me, though, is I'm heavily armed when I hear them in the woods, even though they generally don't pose much of a threat to humans.
Now, after watching this following video, how would you react if you heard a pack of coyotes howling near you, unarmed, on a hiking trail?
Taking all things into consideration, I think she handled that pretty well. When I showed this video to my wife, she too was impressed with how well this hiker handled those coyotes. Knowing my wife, she would still be out in the desert running away from them!
This young lady kept her composure, but just hastened her pace a little until she made it to her car. For that display of courage, from every outdoorsman who knows a thing or two about coyotes, we salute you.
