Fiat Chrysler has recalled 4.8 million vehicles, including Jeeps and Chrysler sedans, due to a cruise control issue.
The issue is due to defective cruise control that may freeze on the "on" position, the result of a faulty short-circuit that disables the "off" switch when reaching a set highway speed. Tapping the brake pedal or hitting the cancel button on Fiat Chrysler vehicles will not bypass the defect. Drivers can cancel out cruise control acceleration by braking or shifting the vehicle into neutral and placing the car into park once stopped.

No injuries or deaths have been reported due to the issue.
