In its 2018-2022 Business Plan meeting, the automaker pledged $10.5 billion dollars towards electrifying its vehicles across 30 models, evidenced by CNET Roadshow's Recap.
Secondly, it will invest more heavily in Jeep, arguably the brand's most important marque, promising to manufactured three-and-a-half times more vehicles than normal, including an electrified version and a Desert Hawk nameplate by 2020.
According to Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne, 75 percent of Fiat Chrysler's investments would go towards Jeep, Ram, Alfa, and Maserati, with the remainder to its other brands, with no percentages by brand given.
On the cost-cutting side, Fiat Chrysler also announced that diesel cars will be eliminated by 2021, with a winding down of expectations for the Pacifica, now acknowledged as a "people mover" with a focus towards urban mobility as Waymo's vehicle of choice.
