Firefighters Respond to a Call to Rescue Turkeys: You'll Never Believe Where

Asheville firefighters rescue turkey poults that fell into a drain after they received a call.

Just before 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, firefighters received a call to rescue turkey poults. Eight baby turkeys somehow fell into a storm drain.

The question is, would you have gone to these lengths to save baby turkeys? I don't think I would have had the slightest idea on how to rescue these babies out of this hole. No worries, these Asheville firefighters are trained to do this. Well, at least they're trained to work similar scenarios.

Fortunately, residents walking a dog spotted a hen that appeared to be upset. Low and behold, they heard and eventually found the turkey poults in the drain. However, when the firefighters arrived, they noticed the drain welded and called in for help to bring the proper equipment.

The firemen made it into the drain where the poults crawled into a pipe. The firemen had to cover the the drain on the other side of the road. Finally, the baby turkeys were saved and reunited with their mom and are okay.

Witnesses say where they are from in California, firefighters would never go to this length to save turkeys.
