Have you ever seen a dead body? Two fishermen came across a grisly sight while on the waterway of Georgia's Chattahoochee River. According to police in the area, the anglers called the authorities as soon as they discovered the corpse in the water.
The incident apparently happened on Wednesday. Authorities say they came across the body around 5:30 p.m. that afternoon. Officers then met them at Campbellton Park Boat Ramp. Police teamed with Chattahoochee Hills Fire Department and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to recover the body.
Currently, there are a number of unanswered questions about the body. What exactly happened? What condition was the body in? Was it accidental? Foul play? Of course, the big question is the identity of the deceased that the fisherman found. Authorities took the corpse to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
Fishermen Make A Grisly Discovery
It's not the first time that fishermen have come across something that they wished that they hadn't. One magnet fisherman found a severed head attached to a dumbbell in New Orleans. It scared him so bad that he ran across the street to flag down a passing police cruiser. That discovery launched a search of Bayou St. John for further remains. However, nothing showed up that day. Authorities said, "We can confirm that the investigation into the unclassified death incident reported on May 18 at the intersection of Mirabeau Avenue and Wisner Boulevard is ongoing. No additional information is currently available."
It's definitely the opposite end of the spectrum from this couple who found a $100 grand while fishing. So why do people keep making all of these grisly discoveries? Well, fishermen love to explore the hidden depths of the water. Likewise, criminals and murderers use waterways as a way to dispose of corpses. Put two and two together and you just ruined one angler's day of fishing and made an internet sleuth's entire week.
With both of these cases, the details are few and far between, but I'll update you as I learn more.
