Watch as this alligator rushes out of the water at the last moment to steal a fish from a young angler.
A Florida man and his 7-year-old son got a heck of a surprise while fishing in Palm Coast recently. Sean McMahon and his son Dawson were in their backyard, and the event resulted in a Facebook-worthy video, plus the attention of FOX 35 Orlando, who deserves the hat tip for sharing it.
"Dawson caught a bass tonight and out of nowhere an alligator came up, ate the bass and ripped his pole into the water!" McMahon wrote in the social media post.
Here's the clip, in which you can see the moment the gator steals the Florida boy's fishing pole right out of his hands.
Of all the viral video tropes that have made their way through the fishing community, it's the "gator steals catch" clips that are tough get tired of.
It's probably because we put ourselves in the angler's shoes. What would I do if that happened to me?
The last thing you want to see when you're trying your hardest to land a nice bass is a predator ready to take advantage of an easy meal. If that predator is a hungry alligator, would you fare any differently?
When a reptile moves that quickly and steals not only your catch, but your bait, your tackle, your rod, and your reel, there's not much else you can say.
