Is this man harassing manatees? You be the judge.
A Florida man is under investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission after posting a video to his Facebook page that subsequently went viral. Scott McCormick, of Volusia County, Florida, is shown in the video tossing what seems to be some kind of liquid from a bucket into the St. Johns River.
The river immediately erupts with splashing by what many believe to be a large pod of manatees.
McCormick is smiling as he hurls the liquid from a dock in a video that has since been removed from Facebook, although you can see most of it in the news video below. However, the backlash was strong, with thousands of comments condemning his actions. McCormick has stated he was simply removing water from his boat.

Since 1966, manatees have been a federally protected endangered animal. McCormick could face second-degree misdemeanor charges for harassing manatees, as well as federal charges since the specie is on the endangered list.
