Formula One racing will enthrall racing fans with full 360-degree cameras in time for the upcoming 2018 season.
In a new bid to improve the viewing experience, the 360-degree cameras will be mounted directly on chassis,' in front of each car's Halo column. This comes from a first report from Motorsport.com.
"There is a 360-degree camera being added to next year's car on top of the chassis, which will give a different perspective of things," said Force India technical director Andrew Green.
This proposal follows extensive work with an India-based technology partner, Tata Communications, to vet two 360-live video cameras in real-world environments and test its data transfer capabilities during a live event.
The hope is that no hiccups occur with real-time action complicated by a 210-plus mph race and massive data file sizes that contribute to lag time.
