Remember when your mom used to say, "If so-and-so jumped off a bridge, would you do that, too?"
Well, no one warned these deer of that risk.
In one of the more bizarre deer stories we've heard lately, four bucks are dead after leaping to their deaths from a bridge in Pennsylvania last week.
The strange incident happened in Myersdale on a new section of road for Route 219, a four-lane highway being built in the area. The section of the bridge the deer jumped from was about 50 feet high, according to reports.
Needless to say, none of the bucks survived the fall. But it probably wasn't suicide. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation believes the deer may have been spooked by a vehicle while on the bridge. When one jumped, the others followed.
This isn't the first crazy buck jumping off a bridge story to come out of Pennsylvania. Last October, a deer jumped off a 40-foot bridge and crashed through the roof of a municipal building.
Amazingly, in that incident, the roof broke the fall, and the deer survived and ran out, to be discovered shortly afterward by a worker.
