The new Gander Outdoors logo has finally been revealed. Do you give it a thumbs up or down?
A lot has happened to the now defunct Gander Mountain over the last five months. Back in March, the company filed for voluntary Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. It was announced two months later that the chain had been acquired by Camping World Holdings, Inc. And although some stores would be closing their doors for goods, the 57-year-old outdoor retailer would be resurrected under a new name, Gander Outdoors, and CEO, Marcus Lemonis.
To rebrand the former Gander Mountain logo, Gander Outdoors held a 'new logo contest' which ran from May 11 to June 10. Individuals were asked to submit their best logo design, with the ultimate winner receiving a check for $100,000 and the 99 runners-up taking home a $1,000 gift card. On June 29, CEO Marcus Lemonis made the big reveal.
Here's the winning design, submitted by Benten Woodring, a freelance graphic designer and founder of Colorado-based Benten Designs:
On the morning of the big reveal, Lemonis tweeted the following - describing why the winning logo was chosen:
And here's a Facebook Live video, showing Lemonis surprising the grand prize winner Benten Woodring at work, as well as announcing that runners-up two through five would be receiving $5,000 cash and six through 100 would each be getting $1,000 cash.

So does Woodring's winning design get a thumbs up or down from you? Do you think it fits the new direction for Gander Outdoors? (And for those that might not be seeing it, the new logo incorporates the G and the O, not a mountain that many at first thought.)
And the best might be yet to come for Woodring. Looks like a job offer is now on the table:
