LunchEAZE

Gear Review: The LunchEAZE Cordless, Heated Lunch Box is Perfect for the Deer Blind

LunchEAZE can have your lunch hot, ready, and waiting for you with the push of a button.

If you're sick of cold lunches in the treestand or on the bass boat, eating a boring, ragged sandwich down to the last bite and then rummaging through your tote for a rock-hard protein bar, then LunchEAZE might just be the most logical thing you'll find to fix it.

This cordless, self-heating lunchbox can make mealtime in the field much better by providing you with the kickstarter we all need: a hot lunch. Food containers have been around for ages, but the LunchEAZE hot lunch system is hassle-free, and could really make a difference in that cold duck blind of yours.

If your meal prep for a day of hunting begins the night before, then this is the perfect time to realize that some things never before seen on the outdoor menu are now possible. This electric lunchbox only takes up a minimal amount of space in your pack and effectively keeps you in your stand longer.

So, how well does this system work, and what kind of foods can you place in it? Heating food in an electric container seems pretty easy in the summer, but what about during the late fall and into the winter when most hunting seasons are in full swing?

Can an incased, rechargeable electric lunchbox really heat up outdoors, in the elements? If you take a quick look at the specifications, you'll start to see it.

The LunchEAZE weighs just under 3 pounds with a 32-ounce stainless steel food tray. It's about 7 inches tall and about 6 inches wide. And, it uses an 8V lithium ion rechargeable battery that lasts just over two hours, plenty long enough for one hot meal.

Here's a helpful video to explain more.

All that tech talk is fine, but when it comes down to brass tacks, will this thing hold under the pressure of a cold hunt?

I set out to discover just what the LunchEAZE could do under duress, and made some videos to document it. This is what I learned:

As I said in the video, I originally thought to just put the LunchEAZE inside of the refrigerator, but a fridge is generally set to around 40-45 degrees, and in all honesty, those temperatures are nothing to a deer or a duck hunter in a frozen blind.

It then dawned on me to get down and dirty with their "hot lunch" claim, so I put it in my freezer for two hours, and this was the result:

That proved it for me. The LunchEAZE can and will provide some hot food for you, even if you're in the top echelon of extreme cold.

The LunchEAZE container can be set to start immediately, but can also be set to start at a desired time so that your food is ready when you are. The unit can be controlled directly from the keypad, or by a mobile app on either iPhone or Android. That means you don't even have to be near your food to start heating it up.

The instructions are easy to follow and the set up is fast. Remember that it takes up to two hours to heat your food properly. It's also important to keep in mind the fact that the LunchEAZE is not meant to cook your food, but merely reheat food that has already been cooked.

The system comes in a single unit priced at $149.95 or can be bundled with multiple units such as the Everyday Pack, the Meal Prep Pack, and the Dual Pack.

It should certainly be mentioned that the LunchEAZE can easily be taken out on the water, to the campground, or on a hike. Since it has a rechargeable lithium ion internal battery pack, you most likely can't fly with it.

A single unit pack has a convenient carrying strap, a mesh pocket on both sides, and a pouch built into the top to carry other foodstuffs (as long as they can take some heat) or other items small enough to fit.

The bottom line is that it easily creates enough heat in a very cold environment to serve up a hot lunch for a hunter, fisherman, or other outdoorsman at will. It's easy to program and set, and it doesn't weigh very much. Gadgets come and go, but the self-heating lunchbox seems like it's here to stay.
