Huge Alligator Looks Like a Dinosaur on Florida Golf Course

Worried about those dreaded sand traps? How about this giant 16-foot alligator getting in the way?!

Who would think a giant alligator would be good for business? In the case of this estimated 15- to 16-foot beast, which has been seen casually wandering the greens and fairways of a Florida Golf Course, the giant reptile is often a star attraction.

This massive alligator is estimated to be up to 14-16 feet long. We say estimated because it's not likely anyone is going to get close enough to find out for sure! This behemoth put the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto on the map.

"People have heard that he is out here and that is all they want to see so they will bring spectators to ride so somebody can get a picture," pro shop clerk Wendy Schofield told News 3 when the animal was first sighted four years ago. "He doesn't bother anybody and they don't bother him, he's like a mascot for the course, which is owned by Manatee County."

In this video, shot by Charles Helms, the giant alligator can be seen casually strolling across the fairway as he makes his way to the lake by the third hole.

You would think seeing a huge alligator like this would send golfers running for the parking lot. The reality is the exact opposite. He was even given the pet name "Chubbs," which we believe is a reference to the movie Happy Gilmore. One thing is for sure, it sure puts a whole new spin on yelling 'fore'!

There is a possibility this animal would be a new Florida record if ever taken by a hunter. The current one weighs in at 780 pounds and is 14 long. Definitely close.
