Most anglers cut their teeth on bluegills. They're one of the easiest fish out there to catch on a regular basis, they're great eating, and you can catch them in great numbers. No matter how many other species we land, there's always something that's special about an especially large bluegill or other sunfish. When we see a truly giant one, it's enough to make us stop and look twice almost every time.
Such is the case with this video from YouTuber Ty PigPatrol. Once again, he's fishing with his dad in what appears to be a small farm pond that's loaded with bass, crappie, and giant bluegills, many of them over-sized hybrids.
The two fishermen catch many nice fish before Ty hooks up with what he thinks is a largemouth bass. That is until the fish finally rolls on the surface, and they realize it's a bluegill of truly gargantuan proportions. This is the type of fish that haunts many an angler's dreams.
Just like Ty, we're not sure if that was a hybrid bluegill or not. It seems likely considering they've caught many in here before. Ty has shot a ton of videos at this pond and we're insanely jealous he has access to such a great fishing hole. They seem to have a great day on the water every single time they come here and fish. Just the variety in the catches alone is enough to make for a great day when you don't know if you've got a bass, bluegill, or crappie on the line.
You know it's a big bluegill when it's got that protruding forehead above the eyes like that. This bluegill puts the "pan" back into the word panfish. Heck, it's almost too big to fit in one! Just imagine how much larger it will grow now that it has been released.
Congratulations on another amazing bluegill catch Ty! We cannot wait to see what you catch to top this one!
