As a child, I always wanted to bring my pet to school! I actually think a bearded dragon at school is a fairly easy pet to manage but they need a temporary set up.
This happened in Florida. WDRW News reported this story and it's very sweet as I think we can all relate. The way the school handled it was brilliant.
We saw the Facebook post from a girl's middle school reminding parents to check their children's backpacks and wanted to share! In this Facebook post, Bay County School District officials say a middle school student brought her pet bearded dragon Jango with her because she "didn't want him to be sad at home all alone." Jango traveled in her backpack. WDRW News reported that this wasn't a big deal and "no harm, no foul" which may be the best part of the story.
"Students are not supposed to bring pets to school. However, we recognize that she was trying to include her bearded dragon in her school activities because she didn't want him to feel lonely at home by himself. We encourage inclusion and completely understand her intent. No harm, no foul," wrote district spokesperson Sharon Michalik in an email to USA Today."
Yes! Her intent was very sweet and she was worried Jango would get lonely. It's all about inclusion for humans and our pets.

This relationship a long-term commitment! The average lifespan is between six and 10 years and large adults can be nearly 2 feet in length.
I imagine it's not like leaving a new baby but since I don't have any kids, leaving my dogs feels like 'mom guilt'. I just want my best friend to have cuddles throughout the day! is this the first time a child has brought their small pet to school? Probably not but I love that she snuck her pet into school in her backpack. Why didn't I think of that! I love dogs but they're harder to sneak in somewhere. This little girl had a great plan. I wonder how long it was until the teacher figured it out. Thedodo.com wrote a really nice piece on this story too! We are such big fans of their site and stories.
I can't stop smiling when I think about how much fun it was for this girl to introduce her pet to new friends.
