"Jaws" seems like a much more realistic movie all of the sudden.
One Columbia Sportfishing boat had an especially eventful day on Cape Cod Bay this past weekend when a great white shark leaped out of the water and almost onto the deck.
When Doug Nelson and his son, Jack, joined a group of fellow father-son duos off the coast of Massachusetts, they hoped for some epic saltwater action, but it's safe to say neither of them expected anything like this.
In an interview with CNN, Doug said one of the boys hooked into a "good-sized fish," so he started filming with his phone. He wouldn't capture the boys laying hands on a trophy fish, however, but rather a a great white shark stealing it right out from under them.
And, as you're about to see in a video shared on the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy Facebook page, the shark was inches from making contact with a boy leaning against the side of the boat.

"Holy shizzle!" Jack said to his father. "That was at my fingers! I almost don't have arms!"
The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy was able to confirm to CNN that the fish in the video was indeed a great white.
While no one was as close to the shark as Jack was, he certainly wasn't alone in feeling his heart skip a couple beats.
"It had come up and it lunged out of the water and bit the fish, meanwhile swinging its tail up and out of the water," Captain Marc Costa told the Boston Heard. "The shark bit the fish in half, and he took it off the line."
Costa said the shark actually hit the boat when it came crashing back down into the water, which he says has happened before.
"There have been some close takes, but nothing as acrobatic as that," he said. "It was exciting and scary and exhilarating and kind of surreal."
