A strange hairy carcass washed up on a beach in the Philippines. Now, researchers may have discovered its identity.
The remains of some odd sea creature that looked to be perhaps a sheepdog or possibly a Bantha from Star Wars lore appeared on a beach on Dinagat Island in the Philippines.
Just one look at the odd shape and the hairy features was enough to garner questions and, of course, bring on the selfie takers and cell phone video crowd.

After testing, it was determined to be the carcass of a long dead whale in a state of advanced decomposition.
Facebook user Marjorie Cabatingan Aboy added more pictures in a public posting on the social media site fueling further speculation.
Whatever it turns out to be it is still a fascinating look at something most people have never seen. How many times have you ever seen a hairy looking whale anyway?
