Guns Used in "John Wick"

Every gun used by the most badass assassin to ever grace the silver screen in all three movies.

The first "John Wick" movie hit theaters in 2014, and was a surprise hit for Keanu Reeves as well as the action movie genre.

After years of films with shaky cam action scenes constructed from about 100 cuts and angles, the long shots of awesomely choreographed shootouts and hand-to-hand combat in "John Wick" were a breath of fresh air, and undeniably badass. The blend of martial arts and firearms created a new kind of action that just sizzled on the screen, along with adrenaline pumping car chases as a cherry on top.

Let's take a look at all the guns our tortured titular assassin has used in the the three "John Wick" movies we have so far, as we wait for the fourth installment to be finished.

"John Wick" (2014)

In the first film, Wick starts out with his arsenal that he keeps hidden beneath the concrete floor of his basement, a sledgehammer serving as a key.

The box has two layers inside. The top layer holds four handguns, a large fixed blade knife that we never see him use, an OTF knife from Microtech, and four gas grenades. Wick's preferred weapon of choice is a handgun. John Wick uses a Heckler & Koch P30L fitted with a custom compensator as his primary firearm. The case has two P30L pistols and two of his chosen backup pistol, a compact Glock 26. There is a spare magazine for each gun and also several stacks of the gold coins the assassin guild uses as currency.

We get a brief look at the box's second layer and we can see it contains a short AR and a Kel-Tec KSG, which is used later.

When Wick gets to The Continental Hotel in New York City, we get a better look at his arsenal, which he covertly transports in a custom modified suit bag.

In addition to a bulletproof vest that he wears under his clothes, the bag holds his four handguns, spare magazines, the gas grenades, and a custom Coharie Arms CA-415 carbine.

We also see how he arranges his kit as he puts it on. Wick carries his H&K P30L in a strong side holster at about 4 o'clock on his belt in an OWB holster. He keeps his backup Glock 26 in a small-of-the back holster, and extra magazines for the P30L are on his left side. Everything is pushed as far back on his belt as it can be, so that his unbuttoned suit jacket will conceal it all.

This is the kit he uses to assault the Red Circle nightclub/bathhouse. If you pay close attention and count the number of rounds he fires, only the first string from the P30L lasts too long, about 20 rounds. The magazine of a P30L holds 15 rounds of 9mm, but it's possible he begins with a custom extended mag. For the rest of the sequence, Wick fires the correct number of rounds between reloads until he is correctly out of ammo.

Laster in the film, he uses the Coharie Arms CA-415 when he assaults the church serving as a front for the Russian mob family he's pursuing, and in the ensuing gunfight outside where he's taken captive.

Upon his escape, he takes on of the bad guy's Kel-Tec KSG shotguns and uses it to confront Viggo about the location of his son.

In the final act, when he tracks down Iosef and the last of his goons at a warehouse/safe house, Wick takes out a bad guy on overwatch, then uses his DTA Stealth Recon Scout Rifle to take out the others guarding the location before heading in to finish Iosef off. This sequence shows he's just as good with a sniper rifle as he is with a handgun.

"John Wick: Chapter 2" (2017)

In "John Wick: Chapter 2," we see the H&K P30L from the first film for a moment in the beginning before John buries his weapons under his basement floor again. However, the events of the first movie have caused an old enemy to come calling and blow up his life again, and quite literally. With his house in cinders, Wick heads to Italy to reluctantly fulfill a contract he's obligated to complete.

When he gets there, he heads to some guild-friendly shops to get the gear he needs and selects a handgun, shotgun, and rifle that are basically set up for 3-Gun competition (which makes sense as Reeves was trained by famous 3-Gunner Taran Butler for the JW films). As his primary handgun this time around, Wick chooses a customized TTI Combat Master Package Glock 34 pistol, along with a TTI Glock 26 as a backup gun. The G34 is visually similar to the Salient Arms International Glock 17 pistols carried by some of the top henchmen in the first movie.

For long guns, he chooses a Taran Tactical Innovations TR-1 Ultralight AR-style rifle, and a TTI customized Benelli M4 Super 90 semi-auto shotgun. He uses the rifle and shotgun for the extraordinary catacombs sequence.

He also gets some special threads. While he wore a bulletproof vest under his clothes in the first one, this time around he gets two suits that are made from bulletproof material, which save his butt a few times.

Wick also picks up and uses a few other handguns for brief periods throughout the film, including a Glock 17, two 1911s, and a SIG Sauer P320. We also see Wick use a handgun with a suppressor for the first time in a way-too-quiet understated gunfight with Casian in a very public corridor.

"John Wick 3: Parabellum" (2019)

For "John Wick 3: Parabellum," the title character changes up handguns again for a different model made through a collaboration with TTI and STI: The TTI STI 2011 Combat Master. It's a 1911-style handgun (technically a 2011 style) chambered in 9mm Major with a 23-round capacity. The 9mm Major is a wildcat cartridge used by competition shooters that maintains as much muzzle velocity as possible while also reducing recoil and muzzle flip as much as possible.

Wick also briefly uses a Glock 34 and a Glock 19 in different scenes. In a particularly hilarious scene, Wick assembles a Remington 1875 revolver from various gun parts he finds in a display case in what we can only assume is some kind of storage space for a museum to fire one shot.

During the massive shootout at The Continental in the final act, Wick uses a TTI Custom SIG Sauer MPX Carbine until he realizes his enemies' body armor is too heavy. He switches to a Benelli M2 Super 90 with the TTI M2 Ultimate Package loaded with 12-gauge slugs, and they do the job nicely.
