Hank Patterson is a household name in the world of fly fishing. With the wild success of the videos that Travis Swartz (Patterson) creates, his alter ego has taken on a life of its own. A few years ago, Swartz put out a video where the titular character tries to explain fly fishing to three bait fisherman. Perhaps it was that video that made his YouTube channel such a success. Well, here is Hank Patterson at it again with another attempt to try to share what makes fly fishing so special.

I've watched this video several times now and I can't help but laugh at different parts every time. Every now and then a media talent comes along that transcends acting and actually speaks to the core of the topic. Granted, all of what Patterson does is meant to be funny, but he does it in such a way that it still resonates a little bit of truth.
It's exactly why Hank Patterson is who he is and why fly fisherman all over the country can quote clips and phrases from Patterson videos while standing waist deep in a river fishing for trout.
