A group of Missouri hunters and anglers are hosting a benefit this weekend to support Ray Eye and his wife Jan, who is suffering from a rare form of encephalitis.
Ray Eye is a well known figure in Missouri outdoor circles, particularly for his achievements in the realm of turkey hunting and turkey calling. Unfortunately, Ray's family is going through a real tough time right now. His wife, Jan Eye is currently battling Autoimmune Encephalitis and has been hospitalized for several months.
Jan is struggling with severe short and long term memory loss and struggles to recognize her husband and other family members at times. Sometimes she can't even remember her own name.
Jan has been undergoing treatment for her condition since January and has gone through multiple rounds so far without much success.
Not only is the treatment itself extremely expensive, but her illness also means that she hasn't been working since she got sick. Ray has also taken a tremendous amount of time off work to help care for her.
The bottom line is that they are really struggling financially right now.
Fortunately, Tim Kjellesvik and a number of other sportsmen in Missouri are stepping in to help the Eye family out. They've put together a benefit for Ray and Janet Eye at Anderson Services Missouri Gunsmith in southwest Missouri.
The event will take place from 10am to 4pm on 27 July 2019 at 911 CR 3500 in Mountain View.
They'll be raffling and auctioning off hunting gear, firearms, and hunting trips. Among other things, they'll be giving away a custom made to order PSE Bow Madness bow that's autographed by Mark and Terry Drury, a Mossberg 930 shotgun, a Mossberg MVP patrol rifle, some custom turkey calls, a Gould's Turkey hunt in Mexico, a dove hunt down in Argentina, and much more.
You'll also have the opportunity to play sniper golf, participate in a laser range competition, and even shoot a .50 BMG rifle at the range there (and keep your brass as a souvenir) for $5 a shot.
Bottom line: this is shaping up to be a really fun event where you'll have the chance to win some cool hunting and outdoor gear. The proceeds from the event will go to the Eye family to help them pay their medical bills and living expenses, so you will also be helping out a good cause.
Make sure you attend the benefit this weekend if you live in the area and want to help out the Eye family.
If you can't attend the benefit for Ray and Janet Eye in person, but you'd still like to help them out, you can also do so by donating to their GoFundMe page.
