Everybody wants an edge, but when high-tech fishing goes overboard like this it's time to hit the reset the button!
It seems like we spend too much time trying to reinvent the wheel when we should just be getting back to basics.
Enter some enterprising and well-meaning folks who just wanted to get better at fishing. Some of them made us laugh, while some made us scratch our heads. It's all in the name of fun and science when people like this try to make fishing "better."
Here's 10 times that they should've gone back to the drawing board.
1. Casting with your drone
Well meaning, but lean back and put some muscle into to it.
2. Rod holder from hell
They could have gone way further so lets not rock the boat.
3. Spring loaded rod and reel combo
We're not sure where they're going with this one, but it sure looks cool.
4. Net fishing off a houseboat
Maybe high-tech doesn't apply, unless you figure in drop time and lead for actually getting the fish into the net.
5. Battery operated drill pole
You can probably get a very good rod and reel combo for the same price.
6. Rocket-assisted casting
Totally fun and we'd all do it, but don't.
7. Shotgun bass fishing
It's not the first time we've seen some fishing folks take firearms on the boat with them, it's just that this time it ain't for fishing.
8. Digital fish popper
Probably works great and may be the wave of the future, but we did pretty well up to now with what we've had.
9. Weedeater-powered fishing pole
Sadly this ingenious fellow has taken down the video, but it worked pretty well. It's just that we prefer the normal way.
10. Pistol-powered hook removal
We all want a good, clean way to get that inevitable hook out of our hand, but this is just crazy!
There are many instances of fishing in high-tech ways that just go too far. These are but a few of the foibles and misadventures of those who are just trying to make our favorite sport more fun and rewarding.
maybe what we need to do is start a Go Fund Me and get them some real fishing gear. Sounds good, but they can get their own!
