Does the punishment fit the crime?
Hunting personality Chris David, a television celebrity and resident from Alberta, has been suspended and fined after being found guilty of illegal hunting that aired on an episode on Wild TV. Jason David, 43, is known on shows like The Hunting Chronicles and No Limits TV as Chris David.
He arrived in Grenfell, Sask. to shoot whitetails in 2011.
After an investigation by wildlife officials, the case went to court. Officials concluded that a deer had been harvested in the wrong wildlife management zone and illegally taken back to Alberta.
The result? David was fined $5,600 by a Broadview, Sask. provincial court after he was found guilty. He was found guilty on numerous charges that fell under the Saskatchewan Wildlife Act. Accordingly, he received a one-year hunting suspension. He has also been released from his TV shows.
