ICAST culminated in a winning week for the creators of the Old Town Sportsman Autopilot fishing kayak.
As the 2020 version of ICAST, a completely virtual event thanks to the interruptions created by the global pandemic, wrapped up with the announcement of the Best in Show Award. The winner this year was Johnson Outdoors Watercraft for their Old Town Sportsman Autopilot.
The fishing kayak got the popular vote among 30 Best in Category winners, announced the day before.
If you're unfamiliar, here's a great rundown of the Autopilot.
The Old Town Sportsman Autopilot kayak had previously gathered honors for the Best in Category award in the Boats and Watercraft portion.
"My congratulations go to Johnson Outdoors Watercraft for winning this year's top honors as Best of Show for ICAST 2020 Online," said ASA President Glenn Hughes. "Millions of anglers across the U.S. enjoy the fishing experience from a boat or other type of watercraft. This year's win helps to highlight that close connection."
ICAST conducted its 63rd trade show and conference, and it is produced by the American Sportfishing Association (ASA), the trade organization that represents the sportfishing industry.
The Sportsman line of fishing kayaks is Old Town's most comprehensive and angling-specific creation, earning recognition from the fishing industry as a whole. Winning an award on the big stage of a major trade show further proves their positive influence on the angling community.
As the year rolls on and more folks take to the water in search of the joys of fishing, it's products like these that keep things fun and interesting.
