Now this feral pig reenforces the practice of carrying a handgun in hog country!
Feral hogs are a big problem in the South for a number of reasons. First of all, they're an invasive species, so they don't fit all that well into the ecosystem. They raid other animals' food sources, damage habitat and disrupt the timeless patterns of wildlife.
Additionally, they are a farmer's worst nightmare. Not only do they destroy agricultural fields, they also wreak havoc on resources farmers depend on.
Arguably the worst part, though, is their particularly aggressive tendencies, as they aren't afraid to attack if they feel cornered. It isn't unusual for animals a wild boar to attack a farm animal or even a pet.
But to top it off, American wildlife services have a terrible time trying to keep up with feral hog population control, because the things just reproduce so damn fast.

Well, if you've never seen an aggressive hog before, this is what people are talking about!
I don't know about you, but I would've been out of there after the first couple seconds. I personally would be more scared of a wild pig 10 feet away from me than a black bear.
But, fortunately no one was injured in this video, despite this guy basically taunting that thing.
If you live in the South where wild hogs are present, get out and hunt! You can hunt them all year long and you're helping statewide conservation! They offer the ability to hunt at night and with a much wider variety of firearms, so what's not to love?
State wildlife agencies—particularly those in states like Texas, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and Florida—need hunters to step up if they're ever going to get a handle on the feral swine crisis in the United States.
