You Can Bring Your Dog to the 'Isle of Dogs' San Francisco Premiere

Dog owners can finally have the kind of date night they really want thanks to a San Francisco theater.

Wes Anderson's stop-motion film, "Isle of Dogs" is set to premier this month after opening the Berlin International Film Festival in February, and Roxie Theater in San Francisco is celebrating in the best way. The nonprofit movie theater announced to its newsletter subscribers that on March 19, they'll be hosting a dog-friendly screening of the highly anticipated film. The Bring Your Own Dog (BYOD) event is expected to be a big hit.

Indie Wire reports dogs of all sizes and breeds will  be welcomed through the theater's big front doors to watch the canine-centric movie with their favorite humans. Both people and dogs will need a ticket, and four-legged audience members are expected to be on their best behavior.

If you don't have a dog, don't worry, you can still go see the movie. Dog-less humans are also welcome to attend, and they'll get to enjoy the novelty of watching a movie about dogs in a historic theater surrounded by dogs. You might want to guard your popcorn, or else you'll be sharing with the puppy dog eyes in the neighboring seat.

"Isle of Dogs" is the story of a dystopian future where all of Japan's dogs are quarantined to a toxic island. A dog flu, toxic trash, and a demanding government, however, can't keep a boy named Atari from being with his best friend. Atari travels to the trash island and teams up with a ragtag bunch of canines in an epic search to be reunited with his dog. It's expected to be an exciting, heartwarming tale about the relationship between a boy and his dog.

Oscar-nominated director Wes Anderson returns to the big screen after his latest animated film "Fantastic Mr. Fox," and big names like Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Edward Norton, Liev Schreiber, and Jeff Goldblum loan their voices to the dogs. Greta Gerwig, Frances McDormand, and Tilda Swinton will also have character voiceovers. "Isle of Dogs" will start showing in select theaters on March 23. If you're in the San Francisco area, take advantage of this one-of-a-kind showing at the Roxie and see it early with your pup.
