While animals are smart enough to help themselves, they sometimes know when to turn to humans for an extra hand. One orca whale did just that in an incredible video shared on Twitter where it seemingly asks for help from people on board a boat.
The young whale got the attention of those aboard the vessel by shrieking cries in their direction. It was clearly in distress—and if you think that's questionable, keep watching the video.
The group called rescuers to their location and the whale was thrilled to see the rescuers arrive, playfully interacting with them much like a puppy when visitors come to the door.

As the video follows the whale, we see the little whale was in fact trying to communicate for help: It led the rescue team to its mother, whose tail was entangled in a fishing net. The rescuers immediately went to work detangling the whale's tail and setting it free. While she may have been frantic, she realized the team was there to help her and cooperated with the humans.
The baby whale, along with another at the scene, had become quite stressed out by the situation. But once the mother whale was freed, she and the calf emitted a happy whale song as a sign of gratitude. On top of that, the thankful whales ensured that the rescuers returned safely, as the video shows the trio following them back to the shoreline.
The video is such a heartwarming show of humans and animals working together. Unsurprisingly, it's gathered almost 100,000 views and plenty of comments. Most viewers were thrilled that the people listened to the baby whales' pleas for help and responded so gallantly. It shows that people and wildlife can co-exist as long as one has a healthy respect for the other. One viewer wrote, "It was so heartwarming. Thank you for listening to the babies and following them," a sentiment that was echoed by many other commenters.
While these large predators have been in the news, it's nice to see how smart and amiable they can be when it really counts.
