Is music the universal language spoken by all species?
It sure seems like it. We've seen animals respond to all kinds of music. Like shelter dogs responding to Alan Jackson songs, and beautiful cello music. David Teie composes music solely for cats and we know some horses seem to prefer metal music. A chicken farmer swears that when he plays Ed Sheeran songs his chickens lay more eggs...
We have seen cows respond to polka music and we heard once they actually don't like country music...
But this video warms our heart.
A little girl parks herself near a pasture of cows and plays a little accordion. What happens next proves that everyone loves music, even cows!

The song is a simple one, but judging that the little girl can't be more than 12 years old, it's impressive. Do you know how difficult it is to play the accordion? The little girl starts her song, and to her and her dad's surprise, the cows come running.
They seem genuinely curious, albeit a bit cautious. How is this small human creating these noises? The video ends after a minute, leaving the viewer wanting more. What happened next? Maybe the cows even started dancing, but we'll never know.
There have been plenty of scientific studies on how music can be beneficial for animals. It's been proven that shelter dogs are more relaxed when music is played and tamarin monkeys have shown positive responses to song's like Metallica's " "Of Wolf and Man." A 2001 study showed cows produced more milk when music was played in the barn, They're favorite songs? R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts," Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water," and Beethoven's "Pastoral Symphony."
Guess dairy farmers will just have to add some accordion music to their playlists.
