Dogs, like their humans, are social creatures (except when they're introverts). They love to play with other dogs around their age. In some cases, the urge to play is thwarted by pesky things like leashes, crates, and fences. However, a Labrador retriever named Lucy and a Golden retriever named Sam have shown the world that a fence could never stand in the way of friendship! Sam's dog mom posted a video of the resourceful pair on her TikTok account @kandi_with_an_i and it quickly went viral.

In the first clip, Lucy gets caught wiggling her way under the fence through a hole that she and Sam dug together. Talk about teamwork! However, Kandi tells them that it is not playtime. Despite her pleas, both the pups continue to ignore her for the duration of the video. The two are absolutely determined to reach each other!
The TikTok universe chimed in with their thoughts on the situation. The consensus is that Sam's mom should let them play, and even offered suggestions to make it easier for the pair. "You just need to build them a swinging doggie door so they can play," one viewer commented. Kandi explained that the video was taken last year before both pups were fixed, so their playtime required some extra supervision. Good looking out, Kandi. We wouldn't want any unplanned retrievers running around!

Of course, since the first try failed, the two persistent pups moved down the fence line to give it another go. Lucy acts as a lookout while Sam digs and digs under the fence. While this video ends before we see them play, there's an adorable follow-up.
@kandi_with_an_i This was Sam and Lucy about 15 minutes after the second video. Lucy was able to get under the fence. #goldenretriever #dogsofttiktok #dog #beelzedog #puppy #labradorretriever #puppiesoftiktok #puppylove #love
Much to TikTok's delight, the two pups finally got to play with one another uninhibited. Nothing could keep Sam and Lucy apart!
