This all-new Range Rover coincides with Land Rover's 70th anniversary, and it is the first two-door, full-size Range Rover since 1996.
Land Rover just released the first teaser image for its latest model, the Range Rover SV Coupe.
This new Range Rover will be a limited production model with "no more than" 999 units being sold globally, and it will be hand assembled by the same Jaguar and Land Rover team responsible for the high-performance SVR models.
The teaser consists of a lone, above-angle shot of the Range Rover SV Coupe interior. The instrument cluster and diamond quilted seats look to be the same as the current Range Rover, but the full-length center console and two-tone, four-passenger seating reveals a more traditional coupe-like experience.
Unfortunately, there are no exterior shots of the new model, but the official press release does promise this:
"The Range Rover SV Coupe is a highly compelling design with peerless refinement and uncompromised sophistication from its breathtaking exterior proportions to its sumptuous, beautifully appointed, interior. This is a vehicle that will resonate on an emotional level," said Gerry McGovern, Land Rover's chief design officer.
The Range Rover model launched as a two-door back in 1970, and it wasn't even offered as a four-door SUV until 1981. Of course, it wasn't officially sold in the U.S. until 1987, and back then, it certainly wasn't the high-dollar luxury SUV that it is today. Expect the price tag on the SV Coupe to start well into the $100,000 range.
Land Rover will introduce the Range Rover SV Coupe on March 6th at the Geneva Motor Show. More teasers could follow, though.
