The Longhorn Bull is from Oklahoma but he is in Texas to stay.
Cowboy Tuff Chex is a Longhorn bull born and raised in Overbrook, Oklahoma by rancher Bob Loomis. Last week the big cow made his way down to Fort Worth, Texas where he was sold for $165,000 to Richard and Jeanne Filip of Fayetteville, Texas.
Longhorn Cowboy Tuff Chex holds the record for longest horn span that measures more 101 inches. That means from tip to tip, this bull's horns are 8.4 feet wide.
Cowboy Tuff Chex will be the VIP!
The bull will be used for breeding on Richard and Jeanne's ranch. Ms. Flip told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that Cowboy Tuff Chex will be welcome with the other 100 or so Longhorns they own. She said he will be "the VIP of the ranch."
The auction held at Fort Worth Stockyards in Texas has seen many record Longhorns. Last year a steer named Lazy J's Bluegrass from Kansas came with a horn span of 121 inches, also a world record horn span for a Longhorn steer. He was sold for $49,000.
