A black bear made its den right next to a snowmobile trail and is just as surprised as the snowmobilers that found him!
You don't need to speak French to understand the surprise and shock that a group of snowmobile riders near Mont-Valin, Quebec experienced recently. After apparently stopping for a quick "relief session," one of the riders almost jumped his sled in one leap!
It looks as if the den may have been unearthed by the trail grooming equipment and the bear had a great open-air look at the pathway right in front of its nose.
The den looks to have been lined by the animal with pine boughs and seems quite comfortable. But I think the snowmobilers that just stumbled on it might need to change their pants when they get home!
Here's the video:
Even though the bear's eyes are open, it looks to still be in the midst of hibernation and not exactly ready to move. It's just that when you see a big black bear that close and it seems to be looking right at you, it might be time to get on your sled and go!
Hopefully they called the local Ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs (Ministry of Forests and Parks) to let them know that a bear has a front row seat to one of the local snowmobile trails.
They'll never look at a hole in the snow the same way after this!
