This old boy scout trick for cooking bacon and eggs in the bush is a super easy and classic camping recipe. All that's required is a brown paper lunch bag, an egg or two, some thick-cut bacon slices, a sturdy stick, and a fire.
All you really need to do is slather the bottom of the bag with greasy strips of bacon, pour some raw eggs on top of the bacon, shove the stick through the top of the bag, and roast the bag over a low fire for a few minutes. As the bag hangs over hot coals, the bacon grease increases in volume and temperature, cooking the eggs.
Campfire cooking might be a waning practice these days, but actually preparing a meal over a fire pit is ultra satisfying. The cooking methods used by our forefathers are in some forms a lost art, and a trail chef is a job that nearly doesn't exist.
