This cave home helps people get in touch with nature.
Not long ago we shared with you the story of a man who built his own spectacular cave home over many years in the mountains of Utah where he now lives off the land. It turns out that guy was not the only one who had the idea of utilizing nature to make a unique living space.
Steve had a piece of property with a small cave where his kids used to play. Years later, he decided to make it into something truly amazing, so he started digging it out.
What resulted is an amazing cave home with a stone tub and fireplace that allows guests to get in touch with nature in a way that few homes offer.
This makes us want to find a piece of rocky property and start digging out our own cave home. There really is something to be said for designing a house using what nature has given you to work with. It has resulted in some of the coolest off-grid cabins or other buildings that we have ever seen. If you love hunting, fishing, hiking, and the outdoors, a place like this looks like a little slice of heaven. Take away all the landscaping on the exterior, and you can hardly tell there is a living space built into the rocks.
In case you were wondering, Steve's property is in Washington and is available for rent to anyone looking for a chance to get away from it all for a bit.
The home itself would have been cool on its own, but the fact that he built in a stone hot tub that can be used year-round just makes it even better. Sounds like a good way to unwind after a long day of hiking, snowshoeing, or hunting in the nearby mountains to us. Talk about a great way to preserve memories of his kids playing out there too by making the cave a permanent feature of the property. Well done Steve!
